Popular Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has stirred reactions online after making a humorous comment about hardship and gifting a church member ₦500,000 during a service.
The clergyman attracted attention after jokingly describing poverty and financial struggles as a condition he called “Tinubu” while addressing a member of his congregation.
During the church service, Odumeje suggested that not everyone who comes to church is necessarily seeking prayers, as some people may be dealing with real-life challenges that require practical support.
In a moment that got members laughing, the cleric said a church member who fell during prayers might have been affected by hunger rather than a spiritual problem.
He then proceeded to support the individual with ₦500,000, saying the person needed assistance.
His remarks quickly went viral, with many social media users reacting differently to the unusual approach.
One user joked about Odumeje’s phrase, describing it as a new “terminology” and writing: “Food hospitality, Food Manicure, Foodaism.”
Another commenter praised the gesture but argued that people should also be encouraged to work hard and develop themselves alongside prayers.
“But he need to tell his members that if they work hard and smart they will also make it in life,” the user wrote.
Another social media user jokingly suggested attending the church, saying: “Go try perform my own, even if na list 200k.”
