Anambra State First Lady Nonye Soludo has shared an encouraging update on the recovery of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly abused by his guardians, saying the child’s condition has improved significantly.
The boy, identified as Chiziterem, gained public attention after a disturbing video showing his injuries and severe burns allegedly caused by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area went viral.
Following the incident, he was taken into medical care and placed under state protection as efforts began to ensure his recovery and safety.
During a follow-up visit to the hospital, Soludo said she was pleased with the boy’s progress, noting that he appeared stronger compared to her earlier visit.
“I am delighted to see that he is making remarkable progress and is much stronger than when I last visited,” she said.
She praised the medical team handling his treatment, describing his improvement as a result of their dedication and the support shown by Nigerians who expressed concern over his situation.
The First Lady assured that she would continue to monitor Chiziterem’s wellbeing until he fully recovers and is safely reunited with his family.
She also called on members of the public to remain alert and speak out against child abuse and neglect.
Soludo encouraged anyone with information about cases involving the abuse or mistreatment of children to report them through the emergency lines 112 or 5111.
