Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda has opened up about the emotional pain of losing her younger brother, admitting that she is still trying to heal from the heartbreaking loss.
The actress revealed that her youngest brother passed away on February 12, just a day before her daughter’s 18th birthday on February 13.
Reflecting on the difficult period, Monalisa said the loss hit particularly hard because she comes from a small family. Despite the pain, she acknowledged the strength she and her family have drawn from God.
Sharing an emotional message on social media, she encouraged people going through difficult moments to be patient and kind to themselves.
“Still healing… It took me a while to heal from my youngest brother passing (12th Feb), just a day before my daughter’s 18th birthday.”
Monalisa reminded those struggling that they do not have to figure everything out immediately. She encouraged them to rest when necessary and simply take life one moment at a time.
“You’re allowed to feel tired. You’re allowed to take a step back. You’re allowed to have days when all you can do is breathe and get through them.”
She ended her message on a hopeful note, reminding people that difficult seasons do not last forever.
“Whatever feels heavy right now won’t always feel this heavy. Keep going, one day, one moment, one breath at a time. You are not behind. You are not alone. And this chapter is not the whole story.”
Monalisa’s message resonates with other grieving celebrities
The actress’ emotional revelation comes after several Nigerian entertainers have also spoken publicly about losing siblings and loved ones.
Earlier this year, Yoruba actress Kemi Korede mourned the death of her sister, describing the pain as deep and the silence left behind as overwhelming.
Veteran actress Joke Silva also lost her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, aged 73, while talent manager Ubi Franklin previously described the death of his sister as one of the biggest losses of his life.
Yoruba actress Joke Jigan similarly mourned her sister, Lizzy, sharing her grief with fans and admitting that the loss left her questioning her presence on social media.
For Monalisa Chinda, however, the healing process continues as she navigates life after losing her younger brother.
