A 46-year-old Nigerian woman has sparked conversations online after opening up about why she has never married and why marriage was never a major goal in her life.
In a video that has gone viral, the woman explained that she has never been engaged, planned a wedding, or actively pursued marriage despite being in relationships in the past.
She said her decision was a personal choice and not because she lacked opportunities or attention from men.
According to her, she has had serious relationships before, including one that lasted several years, but marriage was never something she felt strongly about.
She said:
“I’m 46 years old, Nigerian, Yoruba, I have never been married before, I have never been engaged, I’ve never looked at wedding pictures, I’ve never looked at wedding dresses, I’ve never even come close to it.”
The woman explained that her views were shaped by her observations of marriages around her while growing up.
She said she came from a family environment that many people would describe as stable, noting that her parents remained together until her mother passed away.

She explained that she studies what she has observed from previous generations, including how husbands treated wives and how many women endured difficult situations in marriages.
According to her, those experiences made her decide from a young age that marriage was not the path she wanted for herself.
She added that her biggest fear is being trapped in an unhappy relationship and would rather live alone than remain in a situation that makes her unhappy.
